I look back on this episode with Mike Dayem, the author of Suicidal to Superhuman as being one of the best. Mike wrote an authentic account of suicide and how we can understand it. For someone who has never had a thought about suicide, talking with Mike helped me understand the scope of people who have considered it. His book has answers for people on both sides of the spectrum. I highly recommend checking it out.

Here's some more information about Mike and his book.
Hello, my name is Mike Dayem. After decades of struggling with mental health issues, I’ve come to realize how much of an asset they are, how human it is. Not something to shun, silence, or “cure”; but something to respect, listen to, and understand. And as mental health diagnoses continue to rise, my path and purpose is to share and help people learn the positive and essential side of what this means for all of us.
My own anxiety, mania, and depression has shaped who I am. It has fueled my relentless pursuit of knowledge and understanding. It’s pushed me to become a contractor and builder, a knife maker, bow hunter, poet, and volunteer for animal and land efforts. It led me to pursue acting and stand up comedy, and countless other adventures. It has made getting a degree in psychology and my pursuit of other studies and certifications in NLP, Hakomi, herbalism, animal tracking, shamanism, body talk, and somatic meditation seem trivial in regards to the larger picture. I cannot imagine who I would be without this, and am driven to help other people understand their own internal workings and how to transmute anxiety or depression into an energy source that will ultimately be a guide to your larger, more authentic and more purpose-driven self.
